Hunting Season The TwentySided Sorceress Book 4 edition by Annie Bellet Paranormal Romance eBooks

In this, book five, Jade's growth in her powers and as a person, a force to be reckoned with, grows. Something is in the forest killing creatures. When Jade and Alec are summoned to help, they find a severely injured Unicorn, to Jade's surprise. She never thought they were real. They are. Thus starts a battle to purge the forest lands of evil, evil that is related to her old master, Samir. Also, a visitor arrives, Tess, a current ally of Samir, and talented witch. Is she sincere in her desire to leave Samir, to kill him, or is she a deceiver? Also, Jane meets another supernatural creature she thought was only myth, but I will leave that to the book. This is a fine book, a great read, fun, with much action, and with great relationships, both old and new. I am finding this series captures the imagination. It is well written, and superbly crafted.

Hunting Season The TwentySided Sorceress Book 4 edition by Annie Bellet Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

This paranormal series with a strong gaming undertone is one of the best I've found in a long time. I look forward to the next book, which I suspect will be the last. If you like RPGs and the whole array of paranormal characters, you will thoroughly enjoy this well-written saga. Thirty years ago I was drafted by my preteen son and his buddies to DM their games, and I still have grown kids into gaming and anime. As a longtime SF fan and middle school teacher, both the old and new references the characters make were fun for me personally and added an element of delight I hadn't expected. Start with the first book, though. This one HAS to be read in order for maximum enjoyment. Roll!
Hunting Season seamlessly continues the story of Jade Crow. I like the zero transition from one installment of the story line to the next while still bringing each one to a satisfying conclusion. There is plenty of magic action. Jade continues to deal with the problems thrown her way by her former teacher as well as the locally generate ones. This is another fast read since you won't be able to put it down. The writing quality continues to be good. I got this in the ebook version and its nice to read a novel that has actually gone through an edit - or at least seems to have.
Jade Crow is a sorceress. She has had a rough past but has carved out a good life in a small town in Idaho. The town is probably 50% magical, mostly shape-shifters, but also other magical beings. There are "normals" too, though most of them know nothing about their magical friends and neighbors. In this book, we encounter two proteges of the main nemesis (who is Jade's psycho, ex-boyfriend). There are some really good twists and some enjoyable ambiguity regarding who is bad and who is good. By this point in the series, Jade's relationships w/ her circle of friends have developed to very deep commitments and family-like ties (in the best senses of the term).

As always, the writing is well-paced and smooth. The dialog quick and natural-seeming. There is lots of joking around between the characters. Jade Crow continues to develop as both a person and a sorceress, but the tension is building toward the ultimate confrontation between her and her evil ex.
I, unfortunately, experienced that sickly disappointed feeling when you pay $4 for a book, download it and then see that it say that there is an hour and a half left in the reading. I can see now why you put the first three books as an omnibus. It's the only way to make people think that they are reading a real book series.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the story and the writing was ok. But I really should not be able to read 3 books in your series in one afternoon.

I will not be purchasing the rest of the series, even though I would love to read them, because I am not willing to pay $25 for a series that I will likely read in 2 days.
This is a review of not only this book, but the whole series. I highly recommend it to all Urban Fantasy readers that don't mind the same old formula writing, but, I also recommend it for those sick of that formula. Yes, it is the formula... Strong female magic user, powerful boyfriend, shifter friends, not knowing who her father is, not knowing she is more powerful than she thinks, evil man out to destroy, or in this case, eat the heart of the main character. However, this series makes you overlook the formula. The characters are fun, engaging, full of life. The world is well designed. The power is explained. The series has a strong storyline that stays unchanged despite a new story each book. All books lead to a straight conclusion without adding too many characters, without losing track, and keeps moving forward without adding filler to sell more books. Go ahead. Give this series a chance.
